CHARLOTTE, NC, February 11, 2021 – For the second year in a row, SnapAV has partnered with the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) to outfit The New American Home® (TNAH) with cutting-edge smart home technologies from various SnapAV brands to demonstrate the wealth of high-tech possibilities for custom and production builders.
“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with the NAHB through this exciting opportunity to showcase SnapAV’s diverse product catalog in this year’s iteration of The New American Home,” said Kim-Anthony Parker, VP of Commercial Sales and Corporate Programs at SnapAV. “The SnapAV products and systems used within the home enable an unprecedented level of automation that seamlessly connects the home’s lighting, audio, security, and climate functions. The New American Home® 2021 exemplifies the incredible results SnapAV partners can achieve when a home is fully-integrated with SnapAV technologies.”
For the New American Home 2021, Phil Kean Designs built a three-story concept home in Orlando, Florida that features a Control4 home automation system, enabling intuitive management of whole-home lighting, security, audio and video, climate, networking and even motorized window shades. The builder contracted local Florida SnapAV partner Five Smooth Stones AV to design the perfect automation system to provide visitors, partners and future owners remote control of nearly every powered component of the home.
As a show home, no expense was spared when designing the electronic systems, with Five Smooth Stones AV tucking automation capabilities into every nook and cranny of the home’s relatively modest square footage. To aid future owners and guests, the Control4 app for mobile devices is supplemented with four Control4 10-inch wall-mounted touchpanels, one seven-inch tabletop touch panel and five Control4 Neeo TV remotes that provide instant control at any time.
“The New American Home 2021 includes essentially every possible facet of automation,” said John Prince, Owner of Five Smooth Stones AV. “If it can be automated, this home has it to the highest level available. From the Sunbrite outdoor HD TV and Triad in-ground speakers to the ClareOne security panel and Luma surveillance cameras, we’ve covered literally every angle. Homes like this demonstrate a level of control and automation that few homeowners have experienced, often leaving guests surprised or in awe of the user simplicity that can be achieved when every home system is interconnected.”
Every light in the home is managed and powered through Control4, with a total of 29 wallmounted lighting keypads installed throughout the home to provide familiar control in addition to the app-based management. Lighting levels and motorized window shades can be combined into custom ‘scenes’ programmed by an integrator or the homeowner, offering room environments that can change aesthetic at the touch of a button.
The New American Home 2021 also features a multi-room audio system consisting of multiple amplifiers and nearly 40 speakers from Triad and Episode offering professional grade sound and nearly invisible aesthetics, thanks to in-ceiling and in-wall speakers. The outdoor entertainment area includes outdoor speakers and a Sunbrite outdoor TV, which is a sealed unit built to withstand full-time outdoor usage and weather. The rest of the home features LG OLED ThinQ TVs, and each TV is paired with a Control4 Neeo remote for instant control.
Behind the scenes, the Control4 system does all the heavy lifting to deliver video and audio signals to the desired TVs and speakers. All core system equipment is located in a Strong equipment rack, and each TV and speaker receives its content from the rack through a 4K Media-over-Internet-Protocol (MoIP) system from SnapAV’s Binary brand.
To ensure all of these systems and functions work 24 hours a day, every day, a robust network featuring Arkanis and Pakedge components was installed to maintain internet connectivity and communication between the many intelligent pieces of the control system.
